Former Big Brother Naija housemate Queen Mercy Atang's viral bread-themed outfit at the 12th edition of the Africa Magic Viewers' Choice Awards, sparking online discussions about a potential Guinness World Records attempt.
Recall that Queen Mercy Atang was one of the prominent figures on the red carpet at the 2026 AMVCA event, which took place on May 9 at the Eko Hotel & Suites in Victoria Island, Lagos.
The reality TV personality attracted a lot of attention when she showed up wearing a costume that was imaginatively made to seem like loaves of bread, complete with accessories that were inspired by her bakery.
Celebrity fashion designer Tiannah Empire reportedly created the ensemble using 500 loaves of bread.
Following Guinness World Records' response to a video Queen posted from the event on Instagram, the discussion became more heated. In the comment section, the organisation hinted at a possible record attempt by writing: “Well, we do have a record for the largest cake dress … hmmm.”
Reacting to the comment, Queen Mercy Atang replied: “Hello @guinnessworldrecords, I see you in the comment section.”
According to Guinness World Records, Natasha Coline Kim Fah Lee Fokas of SweetyCakes GmbH in Bern, Switzerland, set the current record for the largest wearable cake dress in the world on January 15, 2023, weighing 131.15 kg.
While speaking on what inspired her to pull up with the attire, the former BBNaija Housemate explained that the attire was inspired by her entrepreneurial history in the baking industry.
“AMVCA 2026 ready. I come as an entrepreneur who runs a bread EMPIRE,” she wrote while unveiling the costume online.
In the midst of the excitement around her appearance, the former BBNaija star also suggested that the AMVCA schedule include a special part dedicated to businesses.
Queen proposed the establishment of a "AMVCA Nigerian Entrepreneurs Night" to honor Nigerian entrepreneurs, inventiveness, and ingenuity in an open letter to MultiChoice Group and Africa Magic.
