The Federal Polytechnic, Ukana, witnessed a historic moment as Hon. Dr. Patrick Umoh , KSJI, Honourable Member representing Ikot Ekpene/Essien Udim/Obot Akara Federal Constituency, on 20th February, 2026 graced the first anniversary celebration of the Rector, Mrs. Eduma Enobong Essien, and commissioned a project at the institution’s main campus in Ukana, Essien Udim.
Attending as the Special Guest of Honour, Dr. Patrick Umoh commissioned the newly constructed Skill Acquisition Centre, a project built by the institution to enhance practical training and entrepreneurship among students.
In his keynote address, Dr. Patrick Umoh announced that he has facilitated ₦300 million worth of projects for the Polytechnic through the Zonal Intervention Project. He emphasized that these interventions are designed to strengthen infrastructure, expand opportunities for students, and position the institution as a hub of innovation and excellence.
Commending the Rector, Mrs. Eduma Essien, for her transformative leadership, Dr. Patrick Umoh praised her commitment to quality education and urged her to sustain the drive for excellence. He noted that under her stewardship, the Polytechnic has recorded remarkable progress in both academic and infrastructural development.
Beyond his official duties at the Polytechnic, Dr. Umoh also paid a condolence visit to the family of Late Elder (Hon.) Essien Pius Ubeng in Ukana, where he sympathized with them and offered words of comfort.
The day’s engagements highlighted Dr. Patrick Umoh’s dedication to both institutional advancement and community solidarity, reinforcing his role as a representative deeply invested in the growth and welfare of his constituency.
