According to the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), new rules have been adopted to facilitate the smooth administration of the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination in 2019. (UTME).
On Monday, the board published the most recent issue of the weekly bulletin of the registrar's office, which included the new rules.
Double fingerprinting was implemented by JAMB, and candidates must register at least two fingers.
Any finger may be used for biometric verification prior to entering the examination room on the scheduled date, according to the test body.
Additionally, the board stated that individuals with poor fingerprints will be scheduled as "exemption candidates" for the exam.
It stated that some tutorial centers and cybercafes were forbidden from taking part in the UTME.
The board also established the CBT center accreditation to evaluate centers according to whether they adhere to the board's new rules, which include the usage of laptop computer systems with a specific amount of RAM.
The CBT center registration officers would henceforth be required to provide biometric credentials, according to JAMB registrar Ishaq Oloyede, who also announced the commencement of this practice.
He stated that beginning in 2023, the board will explore splitting UTME registration from Direct Entry (DE).
Oloyede claims that the division is intended to further consolidate the company's data collection efforts.
