UAE imposes visa ban on Nigerians

Following confrontations between the cults of Eiye and Aiye in Sharjah, the United Arab Emirates has halted the granting of visas to Nigerians.

Although the Emirati government has not yet made an official announcement, numerous travel organizations and Dubai locals have confirmed the change.

One local claimed that all male African residents of the area were subject to a 10:00 p.m. curfew.

Calls and messages left at the UAE embassy in Abuja at the time this article was filed were not responded.

A video circulated on social media last week. In it, a gang of males brandishing machetes were shouting in a parking lot for apartments, pursuing one another, and causing damage to public property.

In a statement released on July 21, the police said the accused are of African descent and cautioned locals against using violence.

The group of African individuals appeared in a viral video on social media platforms while fighting in a public place and causing property damage, the statement read. "The Dubai Police has arrested a group of people, who were engaged in a heated argument in their residence at late hours," it continued.
