As plans for the Akwa Ibom 2027 Election Debate continues, the Centre for Journalism Innovation and Development, CJID has expressed its readiness to join the Akwa Ibom State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists in organizing the Debate, a development which has boost the election Debate.
In a statement made available to newsmen in Uyo on Monday 21st September, the Chairman of the Debate Planning Committee, Comrade Ndanti Ekuh announced that the CJID and the NUJ has struck a partnership deal that will help strengthen the credibility, objectivity and professionalism of the Debate.
Ekuh said the planning committee is poised to ensure that candidates, political parties and electorates go home happily and satisfactorily after the debate without any sense of doubt.
According to the Statement, the CJID through its CEO, Mr. Dapo Olorunyomi said that the partnership between the organization and the NUJ will bring to bear both technical and professional expertise in order to deliver a very credible and factual engagement in all categories of the debate.
The CJID thanked Comrade Nsibiet John led administration of NUJ for providing a level playing ground for candidates in Akwa Ibom State who are contesting the 2027 election to present their policies and programmes to the electorates for assessment and informed decision making at the poll.
Meanwhile, the Planing Committee Chairman has hinted that issuance of invitation letters for the debate to all candidates as well as stakeholders engagement will commence on Thursday, October 1, 2026.
