The Golden Mandate Movement (GMM), a fast-growing socio-political movement committed to grassroots mobilization, empowerment and political development, will on Saturday, July 4, 2026, hold its historic inauguration at the Ati Annang International Secretariat, Library Avenue, Ikot Ekpene Local Government Area. The event is scheduled to commence at 10:00 a.m.
In a statement, the International Publicity Secretary of the movement, Sixtus Tom, disclosed that the inauguration will be chaired by the Member representing Ikono/Ini Federal Constituency, Rt. Hon. Emmanuel Ukpong-Udo.
He said the Member representing Ukanafun/Oruk Anam Federal Constituency, Rt. Hon. Unyime Udem, alongside the Members representing Abak/Etim Ekpo/Ika and Ikot Ekpene/Essien Udim/Obot Akara Federal Constituencies, Hon. Clement Jimbo and Hon. Patrick Umoh, will serve as Special Guests of Honour.
According to a release jointly signed by the Chairman of the Inauguration Committee, Sir Emmanuel Ekong, MNIM, FIPMA, the Secretary, Hon. Victor Obot, and the Organising Secretary, Hon. Engr. Chris Ntuen, other dignitaries expected at the event include the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Gas), Obongemem Ekperikpe Ekpo; the Speaker of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Udeme Otong; the Provost of the Federal College of Medical Sciences, Prof. Nkeweuem Etukudo; the Akwa Ibom State Chairman of the APC, Hon. Stephen Ntukekpo; retired Deputy Inspector-General of Police, DIG Udom Udo Ekpo-Udom; Hon. Barr. Emmanuel Enoidem, and several other distinguished personalities.
The organisers further stated that members of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly from Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District, Local Government Chairmen across the district, APC chapter and ward executives, councillors, party faithful, and sons and daughters of Akwa Ibom both at home and in the diaspora are expected to grace the occasion.
As part of the highlights of the event, the Chief Host and Grand Patron of the Golden Mandate Movement, Obong (Envoy) Nsentip Akpabio, will be honoured for his contributions, while educational grants will be presented to outstanding students from Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District with a minimum CGPA of 3.8.
The movement has extended an open invitation to sons and daughters of Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District, friends of the district, stakeholders and members of the general public to be part of what it described as a landmark event in its drive to deepen grassroots participation, promote human capital development and strengthen political engagement across the state.
