The Personal Assistant to the Governor on Student Affairs, Dr. Wisdom Emmanuel, has identified with Muslim students in the state as they commenced their Ramadan fast.
The Governor's Aide made the visit on Sunday March 1, 2026, at the University Mosque, University of Uyo, where he joined the students in observing the holy season and presented food items and other relief materials to support them during the period.
Dr. Emmanuel said the visit was to show solidarity and celebrate with the Muslim students during what he described as a sacred spiritual exercise.
He appreciated the Imam and the leadership of the Muslim Students’ Society of Nigeria University of Uyo Branch, for their support for Governor Umo Eno's administration, urging them to remain steadfast in their backing of the Governor and his programmes.
“We came to identify and celebrate with you, and to support your Ramadan fasting with some food items and relief materials. This season is holy and significant, and we are here to share in it with you,” he said.
Dr. Emmanuel, who was accompanied by his colleague, Ambassador Sunday Usikifo, was earlier received by the Imam of the University Mosque, Dr. Okesina O. Ibrahim, and the President of the MSSN, Comrade Oyewale Faruq Oyetunji, alongside other student leaders.
In his remarks, the MSSN President assured that the Muslim student community would continue to support Governor Umo Eno and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, particularly as the 2027 general elections approach.
The Imam who noted that the visit was unprecedented in the history of Muslim students' community at the Institution particularly thanked Governor Umo Eno for what he described as inclusive leadership style and commitment to good governance.
While describing Governor Umo Eno as a detrabalized leader, the Iman prayed for the continuous success of the Governor and the President, as well as continuous peace and development in Akwa Ibom State and Nigeria at large.
The event featured brief remarks by student leaders, presentation of food items and prayers, as well as prayers for the Governor and Government of Akwa Ibom State.
