Akwa Ibom State Government has officially launched the ARISE Tech Talent Accelerator Program, a bold and forward-looking digital skills initiative approved by His
Excellency, Pastor Umo Eno, Governor of Akwa Ibom State.
At a press briefing co-hosted by the Commissioner for Information Dr Aniekan Umana and the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr. Ekerette Udoh, the Honourable Commissioner,
Ministry of Science and Digital Economy, Dr. Frank Ekpenyong said that the program underscores the Governor’s strategic commitment to youth empowerment, digital transformation, and economic diversification.
He said the program reflects a deliberate effort by the Governor Umo Eno - led administration to equip young people with globally competitive skills and position Akwa Ibom State as a leading digital economy hub in Nigeria.
"The ARISE Tech Talent Accelerator Program, which will be implemented by the Ministry of Science and Digital Economy, is designed to train 1,200 young people in high demand digital disciplines aligned with global workforce standards.
"The initiative forms a critical pillar of the Governor’s broader ARISE Agenda, aimed at creating sustainable employment pathways and unlocking innovation-driven growth.
"Notably, the program is the first of its kind in the country, integrating structured, hands-on training with direct pathways to internationally recognized industry certification examinations," he added .
Dr. Ekpenyong further noted that selected participants will be prepared for globally respected certifications, including: AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner, CompTIA Security+, Google Data Analytics Professional Certificate, Google Digital Marketing & E-commerce Certificate, WordPress Certification, and Flutter Certified Application Developer.
According to him, the training will cover key digital sectors critical to the global economy, including: Mobile App Development, Data Analytics, Cybersecurity, Cloud Computing & DevOps, Digital Marketing, and WordPress Development.
"The ARISE Tech Talent Accelerator Program represents Governor Umo Eno’s clear commitment to building a new generation of globally competitive digital professionals, fostering innovation, and expanding economic opportunities for young people across Akwa Ibom State. Through this initiative, the State is taking decisive steps to secure its place in the rapidly evolving global digital economy," he said.
He explained that each cohort will run for a period of three (3) months, combining intensive practical instruction, mentorship, and career-readiness preparation.
Applications for Cohort 1 (2026), according to the commissioner, has open today Monday, 2nd March 2026 and will close on Tuesday, 10th March 2026.
He encouraged interested applicants to apply exclusively through the official portal: employment.akwaibomstate.gov.ng.
