FED POLY UKANA COURTS PARTNERSHIP, MAKES CASE FOR SKILLS-DRIVEN EDUCATION

The Rector of Federal Polytechnic, Ukana, Mrs Edumma Enobong Essien, says the institution was set up to complement other tertiary schools in Akwa Ibom State, with strong focus on technical and entrepreneurial education.

Mrs Essien said this during a courtesy visit to the Proprietor and Visitor of Ritman University, Senator Emmanuel Ibok Essien, at his office.

She explained that the visit was part of her inter-school relations initiative aimed at building useful partnerships that will benefit both institutions.

According to her, Federal Polytechnic, Ukana blends classroom learning with practical skills to prepare graduates for today’s tough economy. She said the polytechnic is already producing tissue paper, has started paint production, and will soon commission a furniture production line. These, she noted, reflect her vision of skills acquisition and entrepreneurship.

Mrs Essien also praised Senator Emmanuel Ibok Essien for his foresight in establishing the Ritman Schools, especially Ritman University which she noted had created positive impact in the state.

Responding, Senator Emmanuel Ibok Essien thanked the Rector for the visit and congratulated her on the progress recorded in repositioning the polytechnic for technical education.

The former Deputy Chief Whip of the Senate said education remains the foundation of every society. He noted that in developed countries, ideas that shape politics and development often begin in institutions of higher learning.

He assured that Ritman University is ready to partner with Federal Polytechnic Ukana and also patronise some of its products.
