The Honourable Commissioner for Health in Akwa Ibom State, Dr. Ekem Emmanuel John, has officially endorsed the forthcoming Uyo Social Media Week 2025, scheduled to take place from November 19 to 21, 2025, at Ceedapeg Hotel, Ewet Housing Estate, Uyo.
Dr. John gave the endorsement when he received a delegation from the Coalition of Online Publishers in Akwa Ibom State(COOPA), led by its Chancellor, Mr. Utitofon Morgan, in his office.
Speaking during the visit, the Commissioner, who described himself as "a friend of COOPA," commended the group for its consistency in promoting responsible digital engagement and advancing conversations that shape social and economic development in Akwa Ibom State.
He further expressed optimism that the Uyo Social Media Week would serve as a platform to encourage innovation, creativity, digital literacy, and constructive online participation among young people and media professionals.
In his remarks, COOPA Chancellor Mr. Utitofon Morgan appreciated Dr. John for his continuous support and partnership, noting that the endorsement from the Ministry of Health underscores the government’s confidence in the event’s objectives.
The Uyo Social Media Week 2025 is expected to attract leading voices in digital communication, technology and youth entrepreneurship, positioning Akwa Ibom as a hub for creative and socially impactful digital engagement in Nigeria.
