Lagos LG honors Olamide Baddo by renaming the Charly Boy Bus Stop after Him

The Bariga Local Council Development Area has renamed the well-known Charly Boy Bus Stop in Lagos in honor of rapper Olamide.

Kolade Alabi David, the Executive Chairman of the Bariga LCDA, made the news on Friday during the opening of a few LCDA infrastructure projects.

Hon. Kolade declared in a video that went viral online that the Charly Boy Bus Stop will henceforth be called Baddo Bus Stop after Ajidagan Street was renamed to Olamide Adedeji Baddo Street.

"Olamide Adedeji Baddo Street will now be known as Ajidagan Street," he declared. This implies that the Charly Boy bus stop will no longer be known as Charly Boy and will instead be known as Baddo Bus-Stop.

Speaking further in a statement released by Jubril Gawat, the Senior Special Assistant on New Media to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the Chairman said, “As an administration we took our time to reflect on a number of our people who have put the name of our local council out on the Global map through their respective God given talents and craft, as well as eminent personalities in our Nation and our beloved state and Local Council who have contributed immensely to the development of our Nation and our State. Today, we will be officially renaming streets in honour of the legacies.”

Along with renaming Charly Boy Bus Stop, the LCDA also renamed Ifeanyi Street after "Gongo Aso" vocalist 9ice and Ilaje Road after iconic musician Sunny Ade.

Additional roads include Community Road, Akoka to Babajide Sanwo-Olu Road, Bariga Road to Bola Ahmed Tinubu Road, Ayodele Street to Tony Tetuila Street, and Ilojo Crescent. In honor of the Nigerian winger for Arsenal and England, Obanikoro is renamed Bukayo Saka Street.

Keep in mind that Charly Boy Bus Stop was formerly called after the innovative performer Charly Boy, whose real name is Charles Oputa.
