The Chairman of Oruk Anam Local Government Area, Hon. Sunday Festus Akpan, has recorded remarkable achievements in agricultural production.
This was revealed during the ongoing Citizens' Tour by the Conference of Online Publishers in Akwa Ibom State (COOPA).
Hon. Akpan, while hosting COOPA members at the Council Secretariat, highlighted his administration's efforts to promote agriculture as a key driver of economic growth and development in the area. He noted that Oruk Anam is renowned for its fertile soil and favorable climate, making it an ideal location for farming.
The Council Boss disclosed that his administration has established a demonstration farm, where modern farming techniques and best practices are showcased to farmers. This initiative, he explained, has helped to increase crop yields and improve the overall quality of farm produce.
Furthermore, Hon. Akpan revealed that the Council has provided support to farmers through the provision of high-quality seedlings, fertilizers, and other essential inputs. This support, he said, has enabled farmers to increase their production capacity and improve their livelihoods.
COOPA members led by the Chancellor, Utitofon Morgan, who were conducted on a tour of the demonstration farm, expressed satisfaction with the progress recorded by the Oruk Anam Local Government Area in agricultural production. They commended Hon. Akpan for his commitment to promoting agriculture and improving the lives of farmers in the area.
