The Uyo Local Government Area chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has concluded its campaigns for the 2024 Local Government Council elections with a mega rally held at the Saint Patrick's Primary School, Afaha Inang in Uyo.
The rally featured the symbolic presentation of flags by the State PDP Chairman Elder Aniekan Akpan to the Chairmanship Candidate Dr. Uwemedimo E. Udo and the fourteen councillorship candidates of the party in readiness for the Saturday, October 5, 2024 elections.
In his speech at the event, the PDP State Chairman charged the candidates to be good ambassadors of the party and work assiduosly to secure victory for the party at the local government polls.
He expressed deep confidence in the usual winning capacity of the party in Uyo LGA, considering the many people oriented projects, policies, and programmes that all successive PDP governments in Akwa Ibom State, especially the present one, have implemented to better the lives of Uyo people.
Speaking on behalf of the Uyo leadership, the Political Leader of Uyo and the Secretary to Akwa Ibom State Government Prince Enobong Uwah lauded the state leader of the party and Governor of Akwa Ibom State, His Excellency Pst. Umo Eno for his developmental strides in the Local Government Area and promised the PDP a bountiful harvest of votes in the elections.
Responding on behalf of the candidates, the Chairmanship Candidate of the PDP for Uyo LGA, Dr. Uwemedimo Udo praised the party for availing them the platform to contest the local elections and promised not to disappoint the party when elected into office.
The event featured different cultural displays and was attended by the Deputy Political Leader of Uyo, Hon. Monday Eyo, chairman Local Government Service Commission, Hon. Uwemedimo Asuquo, member representating Uyo state constituency, Hon. Charles Udoh KSJI, Honourable Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Dr. John James Etim, Honourable Commissioner for Trade and Investment, Pst. Sylvia Ekong, Acting Chairman, Uyo Local Government Transition Committee and all Transition Committee members, DG of campaign Otuekong Prince @Ekerett Ekpenyong and the entire Service Alone Reloaded campaign structure, former Chairmen of Uyo LGA, Elders, women, youths and other party faithfuls.
