In an extraordinary display of educational leadership, the Commissioner for Education, Dr. (Mrs.) Idongesit Etiebiet, earlier today Thursday 25th April, 2024 visited the marathoner, Mc Calculus at the 66-hour mark. During her visit, she expressed awe and inspiration at the commitment and dedication of Mc Calculus to push the boundaries of mathematical knowledge and excellence.
The Commissioner went on to pledge her support for this valiant attempt, promising to revisit the scene at the completion of the record-breaking 150 hours. She promised to provide logistical support, where possible, and to relay the inspiring event to His Excellency, the Governor of Akwa Ibom State.
"I am incredibly impressed with Mc Calculus' perseverance and commitment to this feat, which serves as a shining example to all students across our state," said Dr. (Mrs.) Etiebiet. "This is the type of excellence that we should all strive for in our academic pursuits".
The Commissioner also spoke to the ripple effect of this record-breaking attempt, with many students and educators across the state becoming inspired to pursue excellence in mathematics and other subjects. She affirmed the Ministry of Education's commitment to nurturing and supporting such talent, and encouraged all students to follow in Mc Calculus' footsteps in their pursuit of knowledge and academic achievement.
"This is a proud moment for our state, and a testament to the endless possibilities that can be achieved through hard work, passion, and dedication," Dr. (Mrs.) Etiebiet said.
With the Commissioner's visit and words of encouragement, the momentum for Mc Calculus' record-breaking attempt continues to build. As the final hours draw near, we eagerly await the outcome of this remarkable display of mathematical brilliance and educational leadership. This is truly a momentous occasion not just for Akwa Ibom, but for the entire education sector of Nigeria.
