Tems, a superstar in Nigerian music, recently received
her first Grammy for her work on Future's "Wait For You," where she
collaborated with Drake.
In what is perhaps the biggest award show for music,
the song took home the prize for "Best Melodic Rap Performance" in
the 65th edition.
For her part in the successful collaboration "Wait For U."
with Future and Drake, the amazing Tems got three significant nominations in
the categories of "Best Rap Song" and "Best Melodic Rap
Performance."
Tems was a featured
musician on Beyonce's "Renaissance" album, which earned him a second
nomination for "Album Of The Year."
The independent artist won
her first Grammy during the 65th Grammy Awards ceremony on Sunday, February 5,
2023 at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, California, United States,
following a total of four nominations. She is really to be commended.
Tems is not the first
female singer from Nigeria (or of Nigerian ancestry) to win a Grammy, but it
should be noted for historical reasons.
Congratulations, Tems!
