Kemi Badenoch appointed as UK's Trade Secretary

The United Kingdom's (UK) Prime Minister, Liz Truss, has appointed Kemi Badenoch as the new Secretary of State for International Trade and President of the Board of Trade.

On Tuesday, it was revealed that Truss would take over as prime minister of the UK in place of the outgoing Boris Johnson.

Aside from issues surrounding his style of administration, Johnson’s resignation followed a scandal over his handling of the complaints voiced about Chris Pincher, deputy chief whip, over claims of sexual misconduct.

Later that day, the prime minister's office announced Badenoch's appointment to the new cabinet.

She succeeds Anne-Marie Trevelyan, who has been named Secretary of State for Transport.
