Dr. Kenneth Okonkwo, a well-known Nollywood actor, has left the All Progressive Congress.
The well-known Nollywood actor handed the leader of Nkpunano
Ward in Nsukka, Enugu State, his letter of resignation.
The former candidate for governor announced his resignation
from the party because it was decided to field a Muslim-Muslim ticket in the
2023 presidential election.
Recalls that Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the party's
presidential nominee for the election of 2023, nominated Senator Kashim
Shettima as his running mate on Sunday in Daura, Katsina State.
Okonkwo reminded the party in his resignation letter that he
joined the group because he regarded it as a means of battling injustice.

"Those ideas are now alien to the APC with its
regrettable decision to put our Muslim brothers in a poor light by implying
that the Muslims in Nigeria will not tolerate voting for a Northern Christian
as Vice President to pair with Southern Muslim," he stated.
"If Muslims may voluntarily vote for presidents from the
South, it is a fallacy to imply that they cannot support a vice president who
is a Christian from the North.
If this is allowed to stand, Northern Christians in Nigeria
will no longer have a political future.
"This is in addition to the failing of their basic duty,
which should have been to protect the lives and property of Nigerians.
"The nation is likewise in ruins."
Okonkwo posted on Instagram on Monday, announcing his
resignation and attaching the letter: "I just resigned my membership of
the All Progressives Congress in the sake of equality, justice, fairness, and
peaceful coexistence among Nigerians.
"May God deliver Nigeria from the grasping clutches of
those who put the pursuit of power before the pursuit of purpose.
God bless you, and to our Muslim brethren, Barka da Sallah.
