The Conference of Online Publishers in Akwa Ibom State (COOPA), has congratulated Comrade Nsibiet John on his emergence as NUJ Chairman, Akwa Ibom State Council in the just concluded Union's election.
In a statement, the Chancellor of COOPA, Mr. Utitofon Morgan described Comrade Nsibiet John’s Victory as a strong endorsement of his goodwill, leadership qualities, and commitment to journalistic excellence.
“Comrade Nsibiet John’s victory is not surprising. As one with the goodwill, this election is simply an indication of the confidence he enjoys from journalists in the state. His emergence is deserving because he has worked for it over the years," the statement said.
The Conference expressed optimism that the new leadership will usher in renewed vigour and inclusiveness within the Union and the broader media community.
The Conference also commended the outgoing NUJ Chairman, Comrade Amos Etuk, for his exemplary six-year leadership, which not only strengthened the relationship between COOPA and NUJ but also laid a firm foundation for future progress.
“We extend our best wishes to Comrade Nsibiet John and his Executive Council on their victory. The expectations are high, and we are confident that under his leadership, the union will foster unity, advocate effectively for the welfare of journalists, and promote the standard of journalism in Akwa Ibom State.
"As an organisation committed to promoting responsible journalism and digital media development, we're ready to collaborate with the new NUJ administration in advancing digital journalism and safeguarding press freedom in Akwa Ibom State", the statement said.
