"You're Fit for the Job"- Abak Youths Celebrate Aniekan Umanah's Nomination into A'Ibom State Exco

Youths from Abak Local Government Area have celebrated Hon. Aniekan Umanah, on his nomination into the Akwa Ibom State Executive Council, by the State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno.

Shortly after his name was read among the would-be Commissioners and Special Advisers at the House of Assembly, the youths on Tuesday, took to the streets of Abak LGA, celebrating what they called the return of a professional.

President of Confederated Abak Youths , Mr. Ekerette Benson, who could not contend his joy, described Umanah as a "square peg in a square hole," saying he is fit for the job.

"It's a thing of joy for us. You can't deny the fact that Hon. Aniekan Umanah is fit for the job, from any angle. Apart from being a seasoned professional, he is also a refined politician who is deeply rooted with the people. So having him in the State Exco is a plus for Abak people", he said.

The youth leader particularly appreciated the State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno and stakeholders of Abak LGA for the choice of Hon. Aniekan Umanah and further expressed confidence in his capacity to deliver in whichever role he will be assigned to.

On his part, a stakeholder Elder Uwem Obot argued that Umanah's wealth of experience and expertise may have singled him out for his nomination into the State Executive Council, citing his dedication to previous assignments as an assurance he will do well.

"This is a man who has served as a Commissioner before in this state. He has been to the National Assembly and when he returned, His Excellency first appointed him as an Honourary Special Adviser and then a Media Consultant. 

"The truth is that he has the experience and all that it takes to deliver. I think the Governor may have considered these factors before selecting him. Governance is a serious business and the Governor needs experienced hands in the state Exco.", Uwem Obot added.

Other residents who spoke to Journalists around Abak Circus, called for support for the former House of Representatives Member, expressing hope that he will also work to unify Abak, while developing the youths.

"Aniekan Umanah has also had the interest of Abak people at heart. Since God has given him this opportunity, people should come together and support him. There is no need for any pull him down syndrome".

They promised to sustain their support for Governor Umo Eno’s ARISE Agenda, enumerating the various developmental strides of the Umo Eno administration in the area as reason the people should keep supporting the Governor.
