Akwa Ibom State Pageant Organizers Forum Holds its First Ever Pageant Clinic


On Thursday 20th February, 2025; Pageant Organizers Forum, Akwa Ibom State launched its first-ever Pageant Clinic, a workshop for pageant organizers, beauty queens and Kings, pageant Consultants and Pageant enthusiasts at EEMJM Hotels. The first of its kind workshop with the theme "Rebuilding the Ruins" attracted pageant organizers, beauty queens and kings, models, pageant consultants, and enthusiasts from across the state and beyond.


The workshop aimed to equip participants with essential skills and knowledge pertinent to the pageantry world kicked off with a thought-provoking lecture by Dr. Nsikak Brendan, organizer of Mr. and Miss Nigeria International, who addressed the core subject of "Fundamentals of Pageantry and Its Etiquettes." Dr. Brendan emphasized the significance of decorum and professionalism in the pageant industry, urging participants to uphold the integrity of their respective titles.


He also mandated the President of the forum; Mr. Melford to set a standard in pageantry in Akwa Ibom and added that pageantry should be categorize to meet international standard as practised all over thee world. 


Following Dr. Brendan’s engaging session, Dr. Pat Akpabio took the stage to discuss “How to be a Beauty Queen and King with Impact.” She shared insights on leveraging the platform that comes with pageantry to create meaningful change in society. Dr. Akpabio's inspiring message resonated with attendees, encouraging them to take on roles as ambassadors for social responsibility.


Legal aspects of the pageantry were expertly handled by Barrister God’slove Kamalo, who provided crucial insights on the legal frameworks governing beauty contests. His session highlighted the importance of understanding legal obligations and rights within the pageantry landscape, ensuring that organizers operate within the confines of the law.


The event garnered significant attention, with key dignitaries in attendance. Notable participants included the Permanent Secretary, Mrs. Grace Akpan represented by Mrs Idongesit James, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Entertainment, Hon. Sergeant David (Utang Akwa Ibom), and the Special Assistant to the Governor on Tourism (Hotels), Dr. Imabong Zoe. The presence of Mr. Aniekan Inyang, Director of Akwa Ibom State Hotels Management and Tourism Board, further underscored the event's prestige.


Mr. Melford Asuquo, President of the Pageant Organizers Forum, expressed his excitement about the overwhelming turnout and the impactful sessions delivered throughout the event. 


The Pageant Clinic provided a platform for networking and learning, as participants left not only with certificates but also with renewed passion and a clearer vision for their roles in the dynamic world of pageantry. 


Following questions from participants on how the government can support pageantry in Akwa Ibom, the president added that, a roundtable discussion with pageant stakeholders and government representatives will be held were various issues will be addressed and attended to. 


In the same vein, the Director of Akwa Ibom Tourism and Hotel Management Board, Mr. Aniekan Inyang called on the pageant organizers Forum to come up with a template and a guide for pageant activities in the state. 


The climax of the event was the presentation of Certificates of Registration to validated pageant organizers in Akwa Ibom State, marking a significant step toward formalizing and recognizing certified pageantry within the state.


With the success of this inaugural event, the Pageant Organizers Forum is poised to pave the way for future workshops and initiatives aimed at elevating the standards of pageantry in Akwa Ibom State and beyond.


Also in attendance at the clinic was pageant consultants, pageant managers, Queens and Kings, Brand CEOs and industry players.
