Yesterday, 19th September, 2024 the PDP Chairmanship Candidate, Hon. (Elder) Aniefiok Nkom and his campaign entourage consulted Ikot Ekpene Traditional Rulers Council (TRC), PDP Enlarged Chapter EXCO and Authentic Council of Village Chairmen, Ikot Ekpene ahead of the local government elections on the 5th October, 2024.
The Restoration 2024 was led by the DG, Rt. Hon. Nsikak Ekong. Others in the entourage were; The PDP Vice Chairmanship Candidate, Obonganwan Abigail Akpan, Deputy DG, Obong Godswill Akpan, Secretary, Hon. David Umanah, Member AKHA for Ikot Ekpene/Obot Akara State Constituency, Hon. Jerry Otu, PDP Chapter Chairman, Mr. Idorenyin Okon, Former PDP Chapter Chairman, Mr. Uduak Ekene, Vice Chairman Transition Committee for Ikot Ekpene LGA, Hon. Unyime Akpan, Former Vice Chairman, Udeme Robert and Elder Daniel Obot.
Ikot Ekpene Traditional Rulers Council (TRC) led by His Royal Majesty, Okuku Okon Udo Ukut warmly received the Chairmanship Candidate and his team to the palace,and offered prayers and royal blessings for the success of the elections.
In another location, the leader of Authentic Council of Village Chairmen, Pastor Solomon Eshiet expressed profound gratitude for the honour by the Restoration team to recognize and identify with them as a formidable body who has contributed immensely to the growth of our society.
Elder Nkom in his reaction, thanked the groups in their various venues and emphasized on restoring the glory of Ikot Ekpene 1951. He mentioned that Ikot Ekpene was first experimented and established before Onitsha by the British colony. But as at today, Ikot Ekpene can't match up with the said city.
"I will do all my possible best to transform Ikot Ekpene by lofty projects and innovative programs. We will engage in entrepreneurship and agricultural development." He echoed.
The Campaign DG, Rt. Hon. Nsikak Ekong reiterated he believes in Elder Nkom and his good plans for Ikot Ekpene. He implored the traditional rulers to back him up for the realization of his visions and developmental blueprints.
"I want to use this opportunity to thank the Enlarged Chapter EXCO for your commitment to the growth and success of the party over the years. I know you will continue your good works in the forthcoming elections". He said.
Obonganwan Abigail charged the party EXCO to keep being steadfast and, should go back to their various units, wards and villages to mobilize people massively to vote for PDP during the October 5 elections. She offered vote of thanks and closed the meetings with prayers.
