Yemi Alade to record Theme Song for Cartoon Network's Series 'Iyanu'

 

The acclaimed graphic comic Iyanu: Child of Wonder by Nigerian author and director Roye Okupe is adapted for television in this series. Yemi Alade will be recording and performing the theme song for "Iyanu," a forthcoming superhero animated series with a strong foundation in Nigerian mythology and culture, according to announcements made by Cartoon Network and Max.

The series, which is produced by Lion Forge Entertainment, is an adaptation of Nigerian filmmaker and creator Roye Okupe's well-known graphic novel Iyanu: Child of Wonder. Yemi Alade, Lion Forge Entertainment, Alcon Sleeping Giant, and the series' principal composer, Femi Agunbiade, worked together to create the main title theme music.

"I've been a big fan of Yemi Alade for over a decade, so I nearly fell out of my chair when I heard she would be a part of Iyanu. I've gone from blasting her hit single 'Johnny' in my car in 2014 to listening to her stunning lyrics on the Iyanu theme song. This is an absolute dream come true," Okupe who is also an executive producer of the series said.

Iyanu's debut is slated for 2025 in both Africa and the United States. The series is accessible to watch on Cartoon Network and Max in the United States, while Showmax will carry it in 44 African nations.
The show centers on an orphan who, in order to free her people from a long-forgotten curse, must figure out the secret behind her unusual ability. 

The animated series, which is based on Okupe's critically acclaimed graphic novel series published by Dark Horse Comics and which is set in the mythical realm of Yorubaland, is recognized for books like "The Umbrella Academy" and "Hellboy." 

Leading the all-African voice cast is Serah Johnson as Iyanu, alongside Adesua Etomi-Wellington, Stella Damasus, Blossom Chukwujekwu, and Shaffy Bello.
