On Thursday, 21st December, 2023, the Supervisor for Youth and Sport, Ikot Ekpene Local Government Council, Hon. Israel Robert paid a familiarization visit to Ikot Ekpene Police Command.
While speaking with the Assistant Police Commissioner, Mr. Ogbonna C. N, Hon. Israel thanked Governor Umo Eno for the good governance in the state and the peace restored in Ikot Ekpene through his responsive and inclusive governance.
He thank the leadership of Ikot Ekpene Transition Committee headed by Hon. John Cleton Etim for finding him fit to be the Supervisor for Youth and Sports.
He also seek for the support and collaborate of the Assistant Commissioner of Police in combating crime in the area and added that the Familiarization visit was inline with Governor Umo Eno' Arise Agenda in maintaining peace in the State and working with the security agencies from the grassroot.
In his response, the Assistant Commissioner of Police thanked the team for the visit and promised total support in the area of security and to work with youth leaders in the area.
He later added that the youth should pick interest in joining the Nigerian Police whenever they are recruiting and that his office is always open to sign the guarantor's form for any youth that is willing to join the Police Force.
The Assistant Commissioner of Police later exchange contacts with the team and said they should call anytime they have any concern.
The team later visited the Unit Commander of the Quick Intervention Unit, Mr. Bassey Obi in charge of Ini, Ikot Ekpene, Oruk Anam LGA, where the Honourable Supervisor also seek for collaborate to combat crime from the grassroot. He also used the opportunity to inform the Unit Commander about the forth coming general meeting with all the Village Youth presidents and that he will love him to be there so as to have a word with them for a smooth running of his government.
While responding, the Unit Commander, Mr. Bassey Obi pledged his support to work with the Supervisor in combating crime in the area as well as eradicating youth restiveness in the area through intervention programs.
The team later visited Divisional Police Officer (DPO) - Ikot Ekpene LGA; CSP Emeka Ekebuike where he also discussed his plans for the youth of Ikot Ekpene Local Government Area and the need for collaboration.
It was an exciting moment when the DPO added that Ikot Ekpene is his home, that he has served in the area few years ago and that his posting to Ikot Ekpene is more like a home coming.
He congratulated Hon. Israel Robert and pledged his commitment to support his government in fighting crime from the grassroot for the maintenance of peace in the area.
In attendance with the Honourable Supervisor was the President General, Ikot Ekpene Youth President Forum; Ezekiel Christopher Ekanam and Secretary General; Usen Joseph Udo.
