Senegalese-French actor and comedian Ahmed Sylla, Cameroonian actress and broadcaster Sophy Aiida, and South African screen diva, model, and presenter Pearl Thusi have been announced as the hosts for the main awards ceremony on the 15 January 2023 at the 15,000 capacity Dakar Arena, as the countdown to the highly anticipated 8th edition of the All-Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA) tagged "Teranga Edition" continues.
With
more than ten years of experience playing on stages around the world, Sylla, of
the A mes délires renown, is a well-known actor and comedian in France and
Senegal.
He
became a household name in France in 2012 thanks to his odd solo pantomime and
stand-up comedy performances. He has extensive film experience, having been in
blockbusters like Goal of the Dead and serials like Alice Nevers.
Aiida,
who has been a television personality, actor, and presenter for more than ten
years, will be joining Sylla on the main stage. Her skill in front of the
microphone has led her to prestigious events such as the 2012 Nigeria
Entertainment Awards and the 2010 Fifa World Cup in South Africa. Aiida has
made a name for herself in the African cinema and media industries.
She
also hosted the 2017 All Africa Music Awards, or AFRIMA. She has proven her
abilities as a golden voice narrating black entertainment programs by
presenting the conversation show Life Talk on the Canal+ channel and the
reality series Cameroon Top Model on Canal 2.
AFRIMA's
Regional Manager for Northern Africa, Janatte Haddadi, commented on the development
and said that the trio was "a blend of wits, charisma, and comedy" to
enhance the experience of the awards ceremony.
She
said, “These are fantastic choices! They have a maturity that is needed
for a global event like this, and they also have the humor, wits, and charisma
needed to cater to all age brackets. The Teranga Edition is special, and it is
why we have decided to specially curate the comperes to keep the magic alive at
the show.”
As the whole world gears towards the 8th edition of the All
Africa Music Awards, AFRIMA, which will be held from January 12 to 15, 2023,
African music lovers are encouraged to keep voting intensively for their
desired winners, using the voting portal live at AFRIMA website and
take part in the events on social media platforms (IG/TikTok - @afrima.official
; Facebook - Afrimawards; Twitter - @afrimaofficial; LinkedIn - AFRIMA). The
voting process that determines winners at AFRIMA is audited by a globally
renowned auditing firm, Pricewaterhousecoopers (PWC).
Finally,
the 8th AFRIMA will come to an end on Sunday, January 15, 2023, at the Dakar
Arena in Dakar, which has a capacity of 15,000 people. 104 TV stations will
transmit the live Awards ceremony to more than 84 countries around the world.
AFRIMA is the apex of African music internationally, working in tandem with the African Union Commission.
