Timi Dakolo, a well-known singer and native of Bayelsa, is actively gathering money to assist thousands of flood victims there.
According to a number of news reports, Nigeria is currently dealing with its greatest flooding disaster in ten years.
According to the findings, the flooding caused 1.3
million people to be displaced, 600 people to pass away, 200,000 homes to be
damaged, and a sizable area of farmland, animals, and valuables to be lost.
Timi Dakolo used
his social media accounts, including Twitter and Instagram, to spread the
message and highlight the difficult times that Nigerians in the impacted
states, particularly those in Bayelsa, are facing.
He uploaded a video depicting the status of
Bayelsa to his Instagram feed with the remark, “Help!! Help
is needed urgently. This is my beloved state, Bayelsa state. Every help we can
get will be appreciated. The living we can still save, and it starts with
pooling relief resources together”.
Dakolo also enlisted the participation of private
organizations to give relief cash along with other forms of aid to the populace
in order to further contribute to the state's prosperity and hasten the
delivery of essential amenities to those affected by the Bayelsa floods.
This request was honored by the Azeez Amida Foundation. In order to help the 50,000 or so Bayelsa state flood victims, the foundation has teamed up with Dakolo.
Azeez Amida Foundation, in collaboration with Timi Dakolo, sent thousands of
drugs for the treatment of malaria, cholera, typhoid, skin diseases, cough, and
allergies to help the Bayelsa flood victims. Additionally, first-aid kits and
essentials for a healthier lifestyle are included.
Azeez
Amida, the Azeez Amida Foundation's founder, claims, “Nigeria’s
economy has been through terrible moments in the past year, and inflation has
affected people’s cost of living and income levels. The flooding has further
wrecked more havoc on an already fragile economy and people, making living even
more unbearable.”
