Laycon, a rapper from Nigeria, is now a member of the Grammy voting panel. Yesterday, Tuesday, October 18, 2022, the announcement was made via the Grammys' official Twitter account.
The procedure for choosing Grammy voters is as follows: Recording artists, performers, songwriters, producers, engineers, instrumentalists, and other creatives involved in the recording industry make up the voting members of the Grammy.
Voting Membership is available to musicians, singers, composers, producers, engineers, and other creatives who are currently employed in the recording industry.
An individual must have creative or technical credits on at least six commercially released tracks on a physical music release or 12 on a digital album to be eligible to join the voting academy. With the support of at least two active Recording Academy voting members, a person who doesn't meet these criteria can nevertheless apply to join as a voting member.
Around 12,000 of the Academy's 21,000 members have voting rights, according to Billboard.
A voting member's duties include participating in two voting processes to choose the winner. Voters receive ballots during the nomination process, which is the first stage, and cast their ballots in areas of competence, such as the top four categories (Record of the Year, Song of the Year, Album of the Year, Best New Artist).
After the nomination procedure, the final voting takes place, during which the voters receive the final shortlist and cast their votes in all of the major categories, including the big four.
