The 18th edition of the Africa Movie
Academy Awards (AMAA), which will take place in October, has ambitious plans
for a full week of events.
Tope Ajayi, director of media for the
award, confirmed the intentions by saying that the gala night events for the
ceremony will take place at the custom Jewel Aeida hall in Lekki, Lagos.
The African Film Academy's graduation
of trainees on October 25, 2022, will mark the start of the 18th edition of the
continental awards ceremony, according to the director for media who also
unveiled the event's program.
Following the commencement ceremony on
October 27, 2022, a wellness day will be held, and on October 28, 2022,
dignitaries and fashion enthusiasts will attend a series of conferences that
will include a discussion of the diaspora, a discussion of music and movies,
and a fashion show.
On Saturday, October 29, 2022, there
will likely be a nominees party, and on Sunday, October 30, 2022, the AMAA gala
will take place at Jewel Aeida Hall.
Filmmaker Bolanle Austen Peters, whose
movie "Man of God" received more than five nominations, including ones
for best director, best actor, and best actress, described the AMAAs as a
lucrative platform required to support aspiring African filmmakers in his
speech at the ceremony.
It's important for people to be
recognized for their efforts, not simply for the accolades. Making movies is
hard labor, so we need the AMAA to continue supporting aspiring filmmakers
across the continent.
Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the governor of
Lagos State, and Uzamat Akinbile-Yussuf, the commissioner for culture, arts,
and tourism, are two dignitaries that are anticipated to attend the event.
