With the establishment of a new office in Lagos, Nigeria, global music powerhouse Sony Music Publishing has announced the expansion of its operations across Africa. Godwin Tom, a creative professional, has been hired by the company as managing director. He will report to Guy Henderson, president of the international division.
Godwin will supervise Sony Music Publishing's development in Africa as it seeks to expand its portfolio of songwriters and composers throughout the continent in his capacity as president of the Nigerian division of the company.
Godwin Tom, who has been in the business for more than twenty years, has a comprehensive understanding of the African music sector and has developed ties with key players in Nigeria, Ghana, Uganda, Tanzania, Kenya, Zimbabwe, and South Africa. Through the Music Business Academy for Africa, an online learning platform devoted to educating the upcoming generation of music and entertainment professionals, Godwin has also aided in the development of future industry leaders.
He will use his vast experience to assist Sony Music Publishing to establish a presence in Africa.
