President Buhari orders NFF to alter statutes and hold elections in September

 






President Muhammadu Buhari urged the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to begin the process of electing its executive committee as soon as possible once the current administration expires in September.

Buhari also ordered that the NFF Statutes, the country's football administration instrument, be revised to accommodate additional stakeholders who had previously been excluded or refused equal representation at the NFF congress.

In a letter to NFF President Amaju Pinnick dated June 17, 2022, and signed by Youth and Sports Development Minister Sunday Dare, Buhari, who reaffirmed the Federal Government's support for football development in the country, urged the NFF's leadership to ensure that the amended statutes reflect Nigeria's national yearnings, aspirations, and peculiarities as a sovereign nation, while aligning with the principles and objectives of football as set by the FIFA, urged the NFF's leadership.

Meanwhile, Alhaji Ahmed Shuaibu Gara Gombe, the former chairman of the Gombe State Football Association, has urged anyone interested in running for the NFF president in September to exhibit prudence.
