The world-renowned Calabar carnival is set to return in
December 2022.
This was approved this afternoon by the Cross River State
Exco yesterday Tuesday 28th June 2022 in Government House, Calabar.
Commissioner for Culture and tourism, Eric Anderson moved the
motion and was duly approved by members of Exco that the Carnival Calabar
should return in 2022.
It could be recalled that the Government had to shut down carnival activities for the
past two years due to COVID-19, but the council today made a case for its return
seeing as things are gradually gone back to normal and His Excellency has given
the marching orders to begin preparations in earnest.
On what to expect in this year's carnival, Eric Anderson said
“We have had a two-year hiatus so we will be coming up with a bumper carnival
program ".
He thanked the Governor for his continued support of the
tourism sector in the state.
